The Camping and Caravanning Club Hampshire District AssociationHampshire District Association fondly known as the Hants D.A. was formed in 1947. From early March to November each year there are weekly gatherings of like-minded campers, these gatherings are called meets. To help keep costs to a minimum most of the meets are usually held in farmer's fields where only fresh water and a place to empty the toilet is provided. During the camping season there are times when special meets are held, this is when some form of activity take's place at the meet. These are usually held at Easter, Mayday, Children's Meet, Feast of Lanterns, Halloween and the Bonfire meet.
During the early and late part of the camping season there are times when a hall close to the camping site will have been booked for use on the Saturday evening. This would normally be the venue for a Beetle Drive, Quiz Night, Bingo or just for a get-together for a natter and the odd drink or two. At Christmas, there is a Christmas party, good food and fun and games for all, Father Christmas always comes to see the children. During the winter months why not go on one of the walks organised by members of the Hampshire DA. These walks are held in various parts of Hampshire and are between 5-7 miles and nearly always well attended. Also, during the winter, it is the custom to have a skittles evening followed by a Ploughman's Supper. Another event held during the winter is the 'Open Forum' this is where members can ask questions, put forward ideas and meet friends. As the saying goes "Don't knock it until you've tried it" and if you are a Hampshire DA member (or about to become one) and have yet to camp with your DA then please give it a try, who knows you may find you have been missing out on one of life's greatest pastimes. The one important thing to remember about the Hampshire DA is that you will always receive a very warm welcome when you camp with us, as will your children and pets. |
